Rambling - December 2005 Report

December 11th. A clear dry day, with fifteen walkers setting off from Upper Cross. We went through the Church yard and along the footpath that brought us to the disused railway, we walked up the embankment and turned left following the line towards Upton. At Upton we got off of the line and turned right through the railway bridge and took the footpath that crosses Moore Lane and brought us into West Hagbourne. We continued on this path until it reached Main Street, here we turned right and followed Foxglove Lane back to the disused railway.

This time we took the railway line in the opposite direction heading towards Didcot. When the line stopped by Green Close we turned right and took the footpath that leads to the Millennium Wood, we stayed in the wood for a while to look at the stone circle, and then we continued along the path coming out into New Road. Here we turned right along New Road for a short distance then turned left along Fulscote track passing the recreation ground and Shortlands Farm. At the farm we saw some interesting animals, after a discussion, it was agreed they were a Lama, an Alpaca, and a pair of long haired sheep that looked like Dougal from the Magic Roundabout!

We continued along this track then turned right onto the footpath that comes out into Blewbury Road. We turned left and followed blewbury Road, turning right into Fieldside. We followed this path all the way back to Church Close and back to Upper Cross.

This was short walk, just over 4 miles in just over 1 ½ hours.

Why not join us for next months!
