East Hagbourne Scarecrow Trail 2008

Summer Scarecrow Invasion.

Each summer, for 2 weeks, the Action Group of East Hagbourne hold a scarecrow trail. Drivers through the village probably wonder what the devil is going on but it’s all good fun and in support of a charity called the Friends of St. Anne’s Hospital (St. Anne’s is in Liuli, Tanzania and is one of the Charities that St. Andrew’s church perpetually support.

There’s two ways to take part in the scarecrow trail . . .
1) Enter a scarecrow: a £5.00 entry fee per family and build it. Some very creative puns on scarecrows and extrapolations from the annual theme arise at this time.
2) Buy a map and follow the trail: £1.00 gets visitors a chance to wander the village and see all the scarecrows and even vote on their favourite.

What could be more lovely than wandering the paths of East Hagbourne on a summer’s day and finishing at the church for a cuppa and some cake?

Previous winners are . . .
2005 The Allen Family with Major Scare.
2006 The Hicks Family with Dickie the Dare Devil Diver.
<2007 The Dale Family with Dennis the Menace.
2008 Laurie Stevenson with Peter Bran of Neverland.
