East Hagbourne's new Playground opens
Children from Hagbourne Primary School and Hagbourne Pre-School had a
special treat last Tuesday, 20th October when they helped officially open
the new Playground at Great Mead, East Hagbourne.
The play area has a range of exciting new play equipment, chosen by children
at Hagbourne School, including a rocking horse and other items encouraging
group play, and caters for children up to 12 years old.
David Rickeard, Chairman of East Hagbourne Parish Council said:
"This new playground will provide enjoyment for children in East
Hagbourne and surrounding areas for many years to come - we are proud
of the contributions so many people in the Parish have made to its success.
The Parish Council and local residents were able to raise about half the
total cost, and we are grateful to the Trust For Oxfordshire's Environment
and SODC for their generous grants to complete the funding."
After the official cutting of the ribbon by Fiona Danks of TOE and Councillor
Malcolm Leonard, Chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council, the children
put the new equipment through its paces.
Councillor Leonard, said:
“I am very proud that such a fantastic play ground has been built
for the benefit of families in East Hagbourne, and I’m glad the
council was able to contribute to making it happen. I’m sure all
the local children will enjoy trying out the new swing!”
Fiona Danks of TOE and Malcolm Leonard, Chairman of SODC open the new
playground, wathched by children from the village.
