EAST HAGBOURNE PLAYGROUND

The Recreation Ground reverberates with the sound of the village children enjoying the new attractions. Meanwhile the PC is investigating whose responsibility it is to maintain Great Mead so that the potholes can be repaired before they become too dangerous. This is obviously required in view of all the extra foot traffic generated by the users of the Playground.

LATEST FLOOD NEWS

The recent rains have shown that as the excess vegetation is being cleared regularly the flow of water is not backing up as it once did. Vigilance will be maintained over the winter.

PARISH PLAN UPDATE

The PP Committee has presented its' report to the PC, twenty very detailed pages! The PC is now reviewing the findings and will, through the formation of a small working group, begin the work of developing the Parish Plan proper. It is hoped to have this ready for presentation to the Village at the Annual Village Meeting next April.

BRITAIN IN BLOOM

A very well attended meeting was held in November to discuss in which direction the Village should go in respect of future competitions. It was appreciated by all what an amazing amount of effort had been put into the 2009 competition by the Villagers but especially the organizing Committee.

BUTTS PIECE

The current plan is to set out 24 quarter size (25 x 30ft) allotments in readiness for letting next March. They will be fenced to protect the growing crops from pilfering. Investigations for the sighting of a well to provide pumped water are nearly concluded. The kick-about area will have benches sighted around the area. Cynthia continues to develop ideas for this area which include the possibility of a community orchard.

DOG FOULING

In an effort to encourage the use of the "red" bins around the village the PC has been monitoring the collection frequency by the Contractor. It is fully realized that full bins will not encourage owners from picking up and depositing their dogs mess. It is clear that some bins have not been regularly emptied and the Contractor is being chased over this.
