VILLAGE WEBSITE

The Team have been steadily updating the various directories, dealing with notices for future events and making a few presentational changes to the Home page. We now feel that the webpages are as near to being up-to-date as is possible. Please take a while to view the site and let us have your ideas, comments and contributions to the site, all via:info@easthagbourne.net. Remember it is your website so please participate.

FLOODING

We are pleased to advise you that contractors from The Vale of White Horse have started clearing the channel downstream of Tadley Bridge on behalf of SODC. We hope the clearance will extend all the way to Mill Brook so that it will have a significant effect on the flow capacity of the channel.
Whilst SODC are prepared to carry out some periodic maintenance local input is still necessary – it is important to prevent debris entering the system. We continue to put pressure on the various bodies to tackle this problem, with some success. We hope that SODC / Monson will be starting on clearance work of the upper channels shortly.
Representatives of the Parish council will be attending a meeting, chaired by SODC in February to discuss these matters. We hope to have the opportunity to express the need for work on the infrastructure, rather than routine maintenance.

NEW PARISH COUNCILLOR

We are pleased to welcome Chris Alberry onto the Parish Council. There is a still a vacancy for another Councillor, we would particularly welcome anyone who lives in the Millbrook area of the Parish. For further details please contact the Parish Clerk.

PLAYAREA

We would like to express our thanks to John Lawson who has invited donations in memory of Monica Lawson for the Playarea at the recreation ground, as this was a project dear to her heart.

PLANNING AN EXTENSION OR ALTERATION?

Are you considering making a Planning application to alter or extend your property?
SODC have published a booklet "Planning: A Guide for Householders". This booklet contains some useful information on the types of work which may require planning permission and also gives advice on how best to proceed before submitting your application. A copy of the booklet is with the Parish Clerk.
Before making an application it is advisable to consider how your plans may impact on your Neighbours. Please remember to discuss your proposals with them at this early stage.
