BUTT’S PIECE

The front sections of the land have been cleared, leaving the “wild area”, at the northern end, to be cut back. Parishioners have expressed interest in taking allotments should they become available.
Consideration is being given to offering allotments in full size (approx 30 m x 10 m), half size (approx 15 m x 10 m) or quarter size (approx 15 m x 5 m). If you would be interested in taking an allotment within a fenced area of the land with a water supply please contact Robert Rendell on 512425 or the Parish Clerk.
The remaining part of the land (between the allotments and the wild area) is intended as a open grassed are for ball games etc.

NEW WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE FROM JUNE 2009

SODC are to introduce a new waste collection service to increase recycling and reduce waste going to landfill. The new service is to include weekly separate food waste collection, fortnightly residual waste in wheeled bins and at least fortnightly collections of dry recyclables (including glass). The green waste collection system is to be continued

PARISH PLAN

We are pleased to announce that the Parish Plan questionnaire is being finalised and will be distributed to every house in the Parish in the next few weeks. Please take the time to complete it as your views are important. The views expressed by the returns from the questionnaire will be used to shape the future policies for the Village.
There is a section within the document asking for your views on the sport’s facilities you would like within the village, it is particularly important that we have your views on this as the answers given will be used in the applications the Parish Council make for funding for the new Sport’s Pavilion. There will not be a seperate questionnaire

FLOODING UPDATE

SODC’s contractors, Monson, have completed a survey of the lower relief channel from Tadley Bridge down to the Mill Brook. They plan to carry out vegetation clearance and dredging work over the entire length of this stretch over a three week period starting in mid-January. Meanwhile, the Environment Agency is working with landowners to clear obstructions from the upper channel. These works should increase the capacity of the stream and reduce the risk of houses around Tadley from flooding.

PRE-SCHOOL

Mrs Emery addressed the Parish Council and reported that the Pre-School finds the facilities within the Village Hall are insufficient for their planned expansion. A dedicated building does not seem feasible in the short term, so the Pre-School are working with the Village Hall committee on improvements to the lobby and toilet areas that would allow some increase in the number of children.
