The Village Fun Run 2004 - Results & Report

Despite the appalling weather, this year's Fun Run was as popular as ever with over 220 runners being undeterred by the pouring rain. It was a great testament to the loyalty that those taking part have with the event. We should also not forget the course marshals, the timekeepers and Blewbury drink station helpers who braved the rain to give support to the runners. The marshals job was more important that usual this year with the need to change the course due to the condition of Moor Lane.

A special mention goes to Steven Copley who, as well as winning the Under 16 class, came in second overall pushing James Lawson right to the finish line.

It is too early to know how much money has been raised for breast cancer research but it is not too late to make donations. If you wish to make a donation to the charity, please contact Andrew Tyler, Jenny Smith or the Post Office.

As mentioned above, the Fun Run just doesn't happen. Many people freely give their time to help make the day a success. As well as the marshals and timekeepers, we have people who serve the food and drinks, those that make the food, and those that set out the course. I would like to thank all those involved - the day wouldn't happen without them.

I look forward to seeing you all there again next year - hopefully we will be back to the sunny weather that we have grown accustomed to over the years.
